Our people are the most precious thing we have. We are even more pleased to have achieved the highest ever employee satisfaction in 2024. For the first time, we also managed to go through the entire year without a single work accident resulting in disability. And as a further step to improve working conditions, we increased wages by 5% on average.
In 2024 Coca-Cola HBC Czech Republic and Slovakia will have 929 employees, of which 327 will be women and 602 men
886 employees had a contract for an indefinite period, of which 301 were women and 585 were men. There were 43 persons on fixed-term contracts, of whom 26 were women and 17 were men.
The Company had 152 line managers and 777 employees with no subordinates.
There were 923 full-time workers, of which 780 (278 women and 502 men) in the Czech Republic and 143 (49 women and 94 men) in Slovakia.
20 people were employed part-time (converted to FTE). We have employed 29 people by way of a work or employment agreement (FTE/FAA).
During 2024 we hired 226 new employees and 194 employees left the Company*. The fluctuation reached 21%.
* Here we report specific entries and exits, not average headcount as in previous statistics.
Good results are mainly due to people who form strong teams and collaborate openly across the entire Company. In 2024 we built on the Collaboration for Impact survey, where employees rate collaboration with other teams using the Net Promoter Score (NPS). The results help us better understand what works and what needs to be improved. This gives each team concrete suggestions for improving their cooperation.
We track satisfaction and engagement over the long term and regularly translate results into concrete actions. In 2024 we achieved a record 88% in the engagement index. This represents a year-on-year increase of three percentage points and the highest value of this index since it began tracking. Satisfaction and engagement at our Company has been growing for 3 years in a row. We value the honest feedback of our employees and will continually work on areas where they have shown us room for improvement.
The survey showed growth in several key areas: satisfaction with work equipment increased by 4%, willingness to collaborate outside of normal duties improved by 3%, and confidence in the meaningfulness of the changes made by the Oxygen programme, which focuses on simplifying and streamlining key processes within the company, increased by the same amount.
On the other hand, we also see areas that deserve further attention. The average monthly volume of unscheduled overtime stopped at 9 hours.
We pride ourselves on fair remuneration and growth opportunities. In 2024 we gave employees an average pay rise of 5%. Popular benefits include a pension contribution, drinking plan, cafeteria, language courses or an employee stock programme in which the Company matches monthly stock purchases up to 3% of salary. 40% of employees have the option to work from home, with the recommended model combining two home office days and three office days to maintain team collaboration.
We spent more than EUR 29.4 million on benefits in 2024, which is EUR 1.6 million more than in 2023.
ur efforts to develop internal talent are delivering tangible results. In 2024 Mária Kolarovská was promoted to the position of Sales Manager and additionally became a member of the Senior Leadership Team – our Board. We value the fact that we can fill key roles with people from our own ranks – and at the same time strengthen the representation of women in management, which is a long-term priority for us.
Markéta Pavelková HR Manager
We promoted 84 employees internally in 2024. We use a range of programmes to support people development – from onboarding for new colleagues to the Sales Academy and Supply Chain Academy aimed at operators and lab technicians to Fast Forward for managers at all levels of leadership. Part of the approach to development includes programmes for young talent, including Early Talent Internships and the Trainee Programme for Graduates.
In 2024 we offered a total of 25,302 hours of training and educational activities to employees. For selected employees we provide funding for studies and the opportunity to obtain financial certification CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), as well as retraining of drivers from group B to C. We continue to run an in-house Learning Labs programme where colleagues prepare and deliver courses for others. We further support employee education with our annual month-long November Learn Fest training series.
Traditionally, we reward our best employees with cafeteria points and recognise them at Company-wide meetings. In addition to the traditional Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards, we also symbolically award TOP Leaders. Nominations for these awards can be submitted by any employee of the Company.
Employee development and performance appraisals are carried out through our internal Performance for Growth system. This year-long tool links goal setting, ongoing feedback (from colleagues, subordinates or project teams) and individual development plans. These help employees either grow in their current role or prepare for a new position. The achievement of the targets is then reflected in a higher bonus component of pay. At the end of 2024 we simplified the tool for easier and more efficient use.
We take care of injury prevention through our Behavior Based Safety (BBS) programme. Employees report potentially dangerous situations, which we continue to address and evaluate. The programme is based on a simple principle: spot the risk early and avoid an accident. In 2024 we received 949 submissions to this programme. Of the total 312 reported near misses, 269 were successfully removed in the same year.
Occupational safety training is mandatory for all new recruits on their first day of work and is regularly renewed. In addition, we regularly organise the Health and Safety Week and Health Days, which provide free health screenings, workshops and training to employees.
Zero. That is the number of incapacitating accidents across all our operations for the full year 2024 (called LTA). This is the first time we have ever reached this milestone – and it is no coincidence. It is the result of a consistent and conscious effort by every team that does not see safety as an obligation, but as a core value. We have made safety our top priority, and in 2024 that commitment has paid off.
Panche Ninovski Supply Chain Director
Important mental health support tools include the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) run by Telus. It gives employees access to confidential and expert help 24/7, free of charge – in a variety of situations that may affect their personal or professional lives. In 2023 we expanded our offer to include the possibility of consultations with a psychologist/personal coach. These services were also available in 2024. We additionally launched the internal campaign BeWell, dedicated to the topic of physical health, mental well-being and balance.
The interests of our employees are defended by the employee council, which functions in place of a trade union. The members are elected for three-year terms – in the Czech Republic the council has 15 representatives, in Slovakia 5, which together represents about 2.2% of the workforce. The Board is also linked to the European structure and meets with the management every month. It has its own budget to support selected initiatives.
Diversity in the Coca-Cola HBC Czech Republic and Slovakia team is one of our strong foundations. In 2024 we employed people of 15 different nationalities, creating space for sharing different experiences and approaches. The average age of our employees was 41 years. 17% were under 30, 66% were in the 30-50 age group and 17% were over 50.
We value the loyalty of our employees and, therefore, we reward significant work anniversaries with monetary and non-monetary gifts and celebrate them at get-togethers. 136 colleagues celebrated their 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 year anniversaries with us in 2024.
Coca-Cola HBC has long been working to balance the representation of women and men in leadership. By 2024 we have achieved 50% of women in senior leadership within the Czech Republic and Slovakia – Senior Leadership Team. And that includes the CEO and the project role.
The overall share of women in management (job grade 10+) was 38% in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Gender pay remained at an equal level in 2024.
In 2024 we presented the topic of women in management positions at several conferences and in selected media. As part of the Women of Coca-Cola programme, we shared inspiring stories of fellow women, for example, in an article with Mária Kolarovská and in a video with Ivana Silná from the #WomenOfCCHBC campaign. We also opened up the topic of ‘Women and Motherhood in Leadership’ in this episode of the Behind the Bottle podcast.
Every year we also organise D&I Week, a themed week focusing on diversity and inclusion. During this event we remind you of our zero tolerance policy against any form of discrimination – whether based on age, health, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or other protected characteristics. We fully employ an equality policy during on-boarding of new colleagues.
In 2024 we had 9 employees with disabilities, equivalent to 1% of all employees. We offer work opportunities for people with physical disabilities, for example, in our customer service centre, where you can work from home.
We have supported a number of sporting events for people with disabilities through drinks. Among others, for example, the Slavia Cup – a bowling tournament for the visually impaired. For the year 2025 we have established cooperation with the Special Olympics Czech Republic, where we will cooperate both in providing the drinking regime of the events and in volunteer assistance with their organisation.
The drinks also supported the Prague Pride Community Centre, which is a refuge for people from the LGBT+ community who are experiencing difficulties in their neighbourhood.
When disaster strikes, whether natural or human-made, we try to be there when help is needed. In 2024 we donated beverages, for example, to areas affected by flash floods near Blížejov and to summer camps for Ukrainian children. Most of the aid, however, was directed to residents affected by the autumn floods in the eastern Czech Republic and western Slovakia. Our main support in this aid remains the Red Cross and food banks in both countries.
We helped households affected by the floods both with the supply of beverages – we sent 280 pallets of them to the affected regions – and with the volunteer work of our teams. Coca-Cola ČR secured a grant of USD 250,000 (approx. CZK 5.8 million) from The Coca-Cola Foundation for the Czech Red Cross collection to help affected households. Adra, the Czech Red Cross and the Czech Federation of Food Banks awarded our efforts with certificates of appreciation.
In 2024 we donated more than 649,000 litres of drinks to food banks. In depreciated prices they were worth CZK 8 million, their market value was three times higher. Partnerships with food banks have long enabled us to help people in need while minimising food waste.
Natura’s product range also includes water suitable for babies. In 2024 the partnership with the Prague Institute for Mother and Child in Podolí was extended again, thanks to which the clients of this prestigious hospital have access to free infant-quality water – for example, in counselling rooms. During the year we distributed more than 10,000 litres of beverages as part of this collaboration. Natura water was also part of the Happy Baby gift packages.
The first Ronald McDonald House in the Czech Republic, which operates at the Motol Hospital in Prague, provides support to families of children with serious illnesses. Our Company has been supporting this project for a long time by lending free refrigeration equipment and providing drinks on a regular basis. In 2024 we delivered more than 6,000 litres of beverages to Ronald McDonald House. Coca-Cola ČR covers these partnerships, participates in the provision of beverages and, in addition, became the main partner of the benefit concert Hudbou spolu (Together in Music), the proceeds of which are intended for the construction of a second house for families of seriously ill children.
In 2024 we also supported a hospital in Nitra, Slovakia, with drinks and material donations for laboratory equipment.
In 2024 127 employees participated in corporate volunteering during working hours, representing 13.7% of all colleagues. Together they worked 994 hours of volunteer help. In Slovakia our colleagues were involved, for example, in the material collection of the Pontis Foundation or helped with the cleaning of public spaces. In the Czech Republic they have supported, among other things, events of Světluška.
In addition, the internal grant programme, under which employees can apply for drinks for events they organise in their own time, continued in 2024. The programme also supports colleagues’ weddings or their children’s proms. In total, more than 5,000 people attended the events supported in this way.
The week before Christmas was traditionally a charity activation at Coca-Cola HBC, where employees contributed to the Coca-Cola HBC Angels programme, which helps colleagues in difficult situations. All this was topped off by the traditional charity auction, which brought in a record EUR 4,675 (over CZK 116,000). In 2024 employees contributed a total of EUR 12,562 (over CZK 314,000) to the Angels Fund, which our Company doubled. This approach makes the fund stable and sustainable in the long term.
In 2024 the Youth Empowered project provided training for future employment, or even direct work, to 6,829 young people in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A total of 30,144 people have already been through the project. At the heart of the project are now lectures and trainings delivered directly by Coca-Cola HBC managers and cooperation with the partner organisation Junior Achievement. Among other things, JA organises the JA Student Company of the Year competition and runs the Cesty programme for employing young people from Ukraine. Our Company is actively involved in both of these activities and supports them financially.
Among the training provided by our managers are thematic lectures at universities and high schools, seminars for young people from orphanages, visits to a production plant with lectures focused on sustainability and business thinking, or mentoring student companies – just for the aforementioned JA organisation. In 2024, thanks to these activities and financial support, our Company will become the main partner of the University of Economics in Prague. Selected training sessions are also freely available on the youthempowered.cz online educational platform.
In the year under review, we supported a number of other events of our partner schools and student organisations, such as the traditional StreTech at the Czech Technical University in Prague. The Sustainability Management course, which our Company sponsors at the Honors Academy, has also become part of the programme.
In 2024 the iconic Coca-Cola truck once again lit up the Christmas atmosphere, visiting major cities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A new feature was Santa’s Village with a Christmas show, an interactive programme that transported visitors to the Arctic Circle. The whole roadshow also had a strong charitable dimension – the proceeds from the sale of refreshments and gifts went to the Red Cross and the Alice Agency, which thanks to its contribution at Christmas fights against the loneliness of the elderly. The Red Cross actively participated in the event with a campaign to promote non-contributory blood donation. Together with the participants, Coca-Cola ČR donated CZK 1 million to the Red Cross.
Charity and movement goes hand in hand at the Běh pro Světlušku Run, which we traditionally partner. This year we were able to present a cheque for CZK 750 thousand to Světluška at the Prague Run. Světluška received this support from us by becoming an official non-profit partner of the CCHBC Leadeship Conference, which took place in Prague in 2024. We also supported sporting events of the Jedlička Institute, such as Scooter Day and Run for Jedlička and the Ambilympics.
A unique sporting event is the Jindřichohradecký lev. Students of our partner Faculty of Management of the University of Economics in Prague participate in the organisation and learn Event Management. At the 2024 edition our Natura water and Powerade sports drink were also available as refreshments.
The Coca-Cola Czech Republic campaign for this year’s Ice Hockey World Championship was in the spirit of fan cohesion and showed us that hockey unites everyone. We like to not only cheer together, but also help. That’s why Coca-Cola ČR came up with a special project called DOBROGOLY to support Czech para-hockey this year. For each Czech goal at the championships, the Czech Republic donated CZK 10,000 to disabled athletes, and CZK 100,000 for the final and golden goals, amounting to a grand total of CZK 540,000. The event will be repeated in 2025 at the Women’s World Cup.
Our products help the Jedlička Institute’s charity TA Café and the Světluška Kavárně potmě café – a Czech Radio Endowment Fund. In the year under review we donated a new awning to the Modrý domeček café, which employs people with disabilities.
We supported community events of all types with more than 200 shipments of our beverages made in 2024.
In 2024 our contact with the Prague 14 municipal administration was mainly through representation on its Public Involvement Board. The most frequently discussed issues here are the joint sustainability strategy of the district within the framework of Agenda 21. In addition, we have long co-organised various community events with Prague 14. These include, for example, a march through Prague 14, during which residents can visit the premises of our production plant.
In 2024, in cooperation with the Prague 14 municipality, we organised an event called Day not only for the elderly, where we provided drinks, a cooking show by Miroslava van Gils Slavíková and music by the band Abba Revival. We also worked together on Earth Day.
As part of Giving Tuesday, we made a material donation to the collection organised by Prague 14. We donated over a hundred scarves to keep homeless people warm during the winter months.
We contributed to the community life in Prague 14 through communication and support of leisure clubs such as Stop Zevling and Spolek přátel Hostavic. We supported Stop Zevling during the traditional summer festival within the scooter races at Plechárna.
In Teplice nad Metují we again become a partner of the International Mountaineering Film Festival. As part of the festival we also sponsored the making of a new mountaineering film. Among the community events in the Broumov region we supported, for example, the traditional Broumov Discussions and the MTB Trilogy mountain bike races.
In 2024, according to reported data, we contributed over EUR 592 thousand (over CZK 14.8 million) to charitable and community causes in the Czech Republic. In Slovakia, over EUR 56,000 (over CZK 1.4 million) went for these purposes. Material donations and contributions to community-based environmental projects are also included in the total amount of support.
